Happy Birthday, Beverly Cleary!

We are thrilled to wish a wonderful birthday to Beverly Cleary, who turns 103 today!  This children’s fiction icon brought to life the worlds of such classic characters as Henry Huggins and Ramona Quimby. Her books Ramona and Her Father (1978) and Ramona Quimby, Age 8 (1982) were awarded the Newbery Honor, and in 1984, she won the Newbery Medal for her title Dear Mr. Henshaw. Cleary also won the National Book Award in 1981 for Ramona and Her Mother, and was granted the National Medal of Art in 2003.  This weekend, we encourage you to relive some of the most laugh-out-loud and heartfelt moments of your youth by curling up with one of Cleary’s novels. For a wide array of early-middle-grade novels inspired by Cleary’s feisty, indelible Ramona, see this core collection starring “Ramona Quimby’s Cousins,” Amber Brown, Judy Moody, Junie B. Jones, and more.
