These Book Covers Need a Manicure

BookendsCindy and Lynn: Here in cold, cloudy Michigan, many schools are on spring break, and local salons have been busy making hands and feet pretty for the sunny, warm destinations we’ve been dreaming about all winter.

Autumn Falls by Bella ThorneTeen books are a different story altogether. While the occasional teen book, like Bella Thorne’s Autumn Falls, features a hand model whose nails dazzle, most of the hands on the covers of teen novels could benefit from a visit to the manicurist. Could they belong to women who have better things to do than worry about nail polish and cuticle care? See for yourself.

(Don’t look at Cindy’s hands, but her pink, flowered toes are ready to hit the beach, so Bookends will be on spring break next week. Let the relaxation and reading frenzy begin, and be sure to check out the beach reads in the April 1st issue of Booklist!)
