This Week on Well Read TV: Hari Kunzru Talks about WHITE TEARS

This week on Well Read, author and journalist Hari Kunzru will be speaking with hosts Elisa Jaffe and Mary Anne Gwinn about his fifth novel, White Tears, released March 14. Following two white men from “disparate, dysfunctional family backgrounds” and their abrupt—and fateful—rise to musical stardom, Kunzru’s latest is an “ambitious and sprawling” brew of “cultural appropriation, entitlement, mental illness, and Jim Crow history.” It is also, in Kunzru’s own words, something of a “ghost story.” In the video clip above, Kunzru discusses the 2008 presidential election and the fallacy of a “post-racial America.”

To watch his full conversation with Jaffe and Gwinn, check your public television affiliate’s schedule and World Channel beginning this Friday, May 19.
