This Week on Well Read TV: Mohsin Hamid Talks about EXIT WEST

This week on Well Read, internationally best-selling author Mohsin Hamid will be speaking with hosts Elisa Jaffe and Mary Anne Gwinn about his latest novel, Exit West, released March 7. Hamid’s fourth work of fiction following the success of Moth Smoke (2000), The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2007), and How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia (2013), Exit West tells the “spellbinding” story of Nadia and Saeed, a couple in love, and the war-torn land they’re forced to flee. In the video clip above, Hamid discusses his hopes for Exit West’s readers. “I hope the reader . . . might feel echoes of other people . . .” he says. “And echoes of migration and how it’s a universal thing. Even if we don’t move cities or move countries, we’re all migrants.”

To watch his full conversation with Jaffe and Gwinn, check your public television affiliate’s schedule and World Channel beginning this Friday, April 28.
