2017 ALA Youth Media Awards

Early this morning at the Midwinter Meeting in Atlanta, the American Library Association announced the 2017 Youth Media Awards to a cheering crowd. Like so many others, I was at home, watching the ceremony on my laptop, dribbling toast crumbs onto my cat. (You too can be this glamorous if you just try a little bit harder.) I was also tweeting the proceedings for Booklist.

My colleagues assured me the ceremony would be very fun to watch—and they were absolutely right. Even in Chicago, I could feel the enthusiasm of the hundreds of librarians in that Atlanta conference center, especially since everyone kept cheering so darn much. If anyone needs proof that books are very exciting, just watch next year.

Here’s a list of this year’s winning titles, linked to their Booklist reviews, as well as links to each of the awards’ honor books.
