The current issue reveals our editors’ choices for the best books of 2016, including adult books, books for youth, adult books for young adults, audio for adults, audio for youth, and video selections. Also featured: our annual Top of the List—our section editors’ most favorite favorites—as well as an interview with youth nonfiction winner Kenneth C. Davis. And Bill Ott rounds up Booklist staffers’ personal favorites.

The issue also marks the start of 50 Years of YA, our 12-month celebration of the genre’s golden anniversary. Our first guest YA superstar author, Jayson Reynolds, contributes an essay about defying commercial expectations. Michael Cart probes YA’s origin story. And Daniel Kraus takes another look at the novel that started it all.

But wait! There’s more. Elsewhere in the issue, Neil Hollands resolves to reach more readers, and Donna Seaman shares a list of great novels about kids on the run.

As you know, you can still find the complete magazine online! Booklist’s digital edition of the January 1 & 15 issue is also live. It’s a great new way to explore the magazine from your iPhone, iPad, tablet, Samsung Galaxy, or any other internet-connected device. With the digital issue, subscribers will now get print, online, digital, and archival access to the 22 Booklist and four Book Links issues each year! Visit www.booklistonline.com.
