In Praise of Conferences

BookendsLynn and Cindy: We wish you were here in Grand Rapids, Michigan with us at our state school library conference, MAME 43! We have been doing presentations on the best books of the year longer than we would like to say. In the mad scramble to get through as many books on our to-read stacks as possible, we reverted to committee-mode reading for a while.

mame-conferenceWe hope state and national conferences are on your schedule. We know how hard it is to break away from work, but attending conferences is so important! They provide outstanding professional development, information on the latest innovations in our professional world, a chance to talk with people in our field, and a chance to re-charge your batteries. The theme for MAME 43 says it all this year: “Think, Create, Share and Grow.” Make time for conferences—you won’t regret it.
