This Week on Well Read TV: Nathaniel Philbrick Talks about Valiant Ambition

This week on Well Read (just in time for our nation’s 240th birthday), National Book Award-winning author Nathaniel Philbrick will be speaking with hosts Elisa Jaffe and Mary Anne Gwinn about his latest work of historical nonfiction, released in May, Valiant Ambition: George Washington, Benedict Arnold, and the Fate of the American Revolution. Philbrick’s fourteenth account of U.S. history, Valiant Ambition homes in on the Revolutionary War and the disintegrating bond between a determined general, Washington, and his increasingly distraught ally, Arnold. In the video clip above, Philbrick discloses the “injury that began [Arnold’s] slow, gradual creep towards becoming a traitor.”

To watch his full conversation with Jaffe and Gwinn, check your public television affiliate’s schedule and World Channel beginning this Friday, July 8th.
