In the trailer for his new novel The Haters (Abrams), Jesse Andrews says everything goes “completely horribly” when he tries to talk and play his guitar at the same time. Clearly, the same thing doesn’t happen when he’s writing and being funny, or turning his first book, the much loved Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2012), into a much-loved movie. The Haters promises “a raunchy bromance in the vein of Superbad” in Andrews’ signature, voice-driven style.
The book’s iconic cover has also earned a spot in a recent display-idea post from Cindy and Lynn, as well as on a Pinterest board (we’re new–follow us!) featuring books that that can’t hear you, because they’re wearing headphones. Show this one to guitar-toting teens, who will take one look at Andrews’ confessional, backlit YouTube performance and know he’s got cred.
