Book Cover Update: White Darkness

Bookends Cindy: Last month our Book Cover Update post about Judy Blume’s Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret found a wide audience and generated many comments. Lynn and I have found many other enduring titles that have received multiple cover updates over the years that we’ll be covering (ha) in the months to come.

In the meantime, while curating a list of possible books for a middle-school lit circle project, I ran across a foreign cover for the 2008 Printz Award winner, Geraldine McCaughrean’s The White Darkness. Now, I have no complaints about the original cover, but after seeing this art on this Spanish edition (Fondo De Cultura Economica USA), I am lusting for that cover art on a U.S. edition to entice my teen readers. What do you think?

Lynn: I don’t mind the old cover but I also don’t think it captures what this mind-blowing tale is all about. I do love the Spanish cover though!  Who could walk by that cover without pausing to pick up the book and start investigating? And besides, my man Titus deserves the shared billing.
