Revenge on the Range: More Westerns for fans of The Revenant

Shelf RenewalBased on Michael Punke’s historical novel of the same name, Leonardo DiCaprio is stunning audiences in the new movie The Revenant. Subtitled A Novel of Revenge, the book is a fictionalized account of frontiersman Hugh Glass. While trapping for Captain Andrew Henry, Glass suffers a near-fatal bear attack. Captain Henry assigns two men to remain with Glass until the time comes to bury him. But, fearing for their own safety, the men leave the barely breathing trapper to die on his own. Fueled by rage, Glass survives and begins a cross-country trek to seek vengeance on those who abandoned him. Readers who love seeing heroes taking action into their own hands will enjoy these other tales of frontier justice.
