Poisoned Pen Press began publishing in 1997 with the publication of the Edgar Award nominated AZ Murder Goes Classic. Initially planning on reprinting out-of-print mysteries, Poisoned Pen Press soon after began accepting submissions of original works of mystery fiction by previously unpublished authors. Currently Poisoned Pen Press has approximately 700 titles in print and publishes around 60 new titles annually. In 2014 Poisoned Pen Press launched The Poisoned Pencil—its young adult mystery imprint.
