I am five years into my sentence here at Midnight Ink. Before landing in the clink, I honed my skills at several independent bookstores, such as Kramerbooks in DC and Booked for Murder in Madison, WI. Those were the days. But I gotta tell you, there are worse places to do time than here in the Twin Cities with MI. I mean, I get to work on all kinds of books, from traditional cozies that Agatha Christie would like to brutal serial killers. Good stuff, I say, good stuff. And you can find our books anywhere—indie stores, Barnes and Noble, Amazon—and we have some pretty sweet distributor deals with Ingram and Baker & Taylor.
We got some great things happening around the big house. 2015 is Midnight Ink’s 10-year anniversary. We will be pubbing a hardcover by Catriona McPherson. We will have some parties and I hear there will be cake. Keep an eye on Malice Domestic and Bouchercon to see what we are up to. I sure hope my cohorts don’t try to bust me out of the slammer. 2015 will see us publishing 40 books. I got work to do. Feel free to send me some hooch to get me through the long nights. It’s a tough job but somebody has got to do it.
