Austin Almanza Wins #CostumesforBooks!

We have a winner of this year’s #CostumesforBooks! Congratulations to Austin Almanza of Harbor Lights Middle School in Holland, MI for “A Clockwork Clown.” Austin, you’ll receive the Booklist Mystery Box on your doorstop next week (then you can tell us what’s in it)! Judge Dan Kraus had this to say about Austin’s entry:

A Clockwork Clown

“A lot of creativity—and sweat, and tears, and likely some blood because scissors are dangerous—went into these submissions. In the end, though, the winner I chose was a simple one. That clown mask atop Clockwork Orange is not only deeply unsettling, it looks like a halfway legitimate cover for the book. Surely one of the gangs of droogs in the books dressed as clowns? If not, they should have.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the #CostumesforBooks competition this week! We had many submissions from all over the country. Check out Booklist‘s Facebook album to see the rest of the entries. Congratulations, Austin!

Below are honorable mentions which we also really loved!
