The Blackbird Sisters mysteries are a great example of a series that started out in paperback and then grew into a well-deserved hardcover audience. The series begins with 2002’s How to Murder a Millionaire. Working the connections from her debutante days, Nora Blackbird swings a gig as a society columnist for a Philadelphia newspaper. When a local art collector is murdered, nosy Nora investigates. Not that she doesn’t have enough on her plate. Nora and her sisters are still struggling to clean up the mess their financially irresponsible parents left when they were forced to leave the Main Line for something a little less extradition-y. She’s also trying to balance her attraction to bad boy Michael Abruzzo, a “ahem” businessman with “family” problems of his own.
