Web Crush of the Week: Brain Pickings

This week’s crush is a weekly web digest, Brain Pickings.

The brain child of Maria Popova, “an interestingness hunter-gatherer and curious mind at large,” we particularly love the book and literary coverage, which can be accessed via a virtual bookshelf or explored by the generous use of post tags. The site also features a link to the “Literary Jukebox,” which features a quote from a favorite book, thematically matched with a song.

From the “About Us” page, the site manifesto sure sounds like… something a librarian would say about our profession, no?  “Brain Pickings is a cross-disciplinary LEGO treasure chest, full of pieces spanning art, design, science, technology, philosophy, history, politics, psychology, sociology, ecology, anthropology, and more; pieces that enrich your mental pool of resources and empower combinatorial ideas that are stronger, smarter, richer, deeper and more impactful.”
