Lambda Literary Award finalists announced

In light of the historic news we are all waiting to hear from our Supreme Court, it might be a good time to focus some attention on the Lambda Literary Foundation and it’s recently announced list of Awards finalists.anshaw

The Lambda Literary Awards recognize “the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender books of the year and affirm that LGBT stories are part of the literature of the world.”

The list of 2013 finalists can be read here. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 3 in New York City. Previous award winners can be found here.

For many people, reading fiction helps put challenging ideas and concepts into perspective. Several titles that received critical attention this past year are nominated for Lambda Awards, Carry the One by Carol Anshaw, In One Person by John Irving,  and The Absolutist by John Boyne. All would make great selections for a book group looking to expand reading experiences.

I haven’t read “Carry the One,” but I loved Anshaw’s “Lucky in the Corner.”
