Freebie Friday: Record your own voice Dr. Seuss app

Use iPad apps in your library or classroom  storytimes? Enter to win a free download of Oceanhouse Media‘s newly-upgraded “Record and Share” storybook apps. Have a preschooler or early reader who loves Dr. Seuss? I’ll bet there are a few grandmas like me who have toddler apps on their cell phone & would love to provide the read-along voice. Or what a great literacy tool for the classroom – an opportunity for some serious application of echo reading! You can see the app in action in the video below. I have a limited number of downloads generously donated by Oceanhouse Media to give away – just leave your name & where you’ll use the app in the comments below. Be sure to note which Apple app you’d like- there are currently three titles available: Dr. Seuss’s ABCThe Cat in the Hat, and Green Eggs and Ham I’ll announce the winners on October 12th.

And now for something completely different – the winners of  And When She Was Good , mega-award-winner Laura Lippman’s tale of a suburban prostitute/madame/single-mom embroiled in a murder committed by her lover, narrated Linda Emond. Thanks to Harper Audio for providing TWO copies for lucky winners: the St Petersburg College Library in Clearwater, Florida and the Brosville/Cascade Branch of the Pittsylvania County Public Library in Danville Virginia. Happy listening by the patrons of those two libraries!

I’d love to win Green Eggs and Hamm(apple). I am planning to do some “Best of” app programs for parents in December, and would love to have this one to demo! Plus, Green Eggs and Ham was the first book I ever read on my own.

How does a person choose only one of these great titles? I’d be happy to be able to have any of them to use on library’s newly acquired IPad that we use with our early literacy groups.

I bought a number of the Dr. Seuss apps for my Nook Color for Dr. Seuss Day last March and Oceanhouse Media does an excellent job presenting these books. As far as I can tell, the Nook apps haven’t been upgraded with the record your own voice feature.

I forgot to ask… Our library was one of the lucky winners of the And When She Was Good audiobook giveaway, should I wait for an email asking for mailing information?

The staff and patrons at our library LOVE audiobooks and this will be a great addition to our collection. Thank you!

I would love to win any of the apps for my iPads. I teach first grade and know that the kids will enjoy the recording aspect and they will be able to build a library to share with parents and other students.

Hey! I was the one who entered the conference for the audio book at St Petersburg College. I am so excited! Yay!!
