Bookends Goes to France

Lynn: Cindy and I write Bookends separately, I from my kitchen and Cindy from school or home.  We plan in person or by phone and it works pretty well but we’re adding a new challenge to this arrangement.  I am heading to France for 25 days on a family trip so working remotely is now going to take on a whole new meaning!  Blame this all on my husband who has just retired and wanted to celebrate by taking all of our family to France.  He worked there for several years and  this is a place we love and want to share with our much-extended family.  He and I leave today with our focus group (yes we are taking the 7-year-old twins BY OURSELVES for 9 days) and spending some time in Paris and the Loire valley.  Then 8 more of the family will join us on the Brittany coast where we are renting a house that only has 1 1/2 bathrooms for 12 people.  I feel a little like a general planning an invasion as there have been so many details involved.  It will be an adventure and one that I hope we all remember fondly.

But back to Bookends!  Cindy and I are going to try to keep up our dual posts as much as possible but a lot depends on what will be erratic internet access.  So you may hear from Cindy a lot this month!  Brace yourselves for lots of travel stuff and the focus group posed in front of things and as many books as possible worked into the mix.  My book bag weighs more than my suitcase at this point!

Here I am with the focus group with all our stuff!

Cindy: I’ve seen Lynn’s book bag when she travels. I should have jettisoned the books and stowed away! I am green with envy…but am appeasing myself by reading Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos on my deck watching the evening boaters…not a bad substitute if one isn’t leaving the county–let alone the country–this week.

Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful visit! I traveled to Norway last year with my then-6-year-old twins and 7-year-old son. It’s great when they can tote their own bags! Bon voyage!
