#JIAM Politically incorrect Father’s Day gift

Free download of Go the F*ck to Sleep as read by Samuel L. Jackson? Yup, Audible has Adam Mansbach”s picture book + profanity runaway best-seller available here at no charge for a limited time. You might be able to see Jackson in action in front of the mic on YouTube below – but previous videos have been pulled. Mansbach set off a firestorm of love/hate reactions to the book’s simple refrain that has echoed through the heads of fathers (and mothers) since the dawn of time – but up until now hasn’t been included in a dreamly-drawn faux-bedtime picture book. Catch up with the controversy on Boing-Boing, via Roger Sutton (& commentors), and in this review from Booklist‘s own Ian Chipman. Just be sure to play this one through your headphones, NOT for the kids – as the Audible website says

Beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny, Go the F**k to Sleep is a book for parents new, old, and expectant. Due to its explicit language, you probably should not play it for your children.

Go the F**k to Sleep is available free for a limited time. Feel free to share the link to this page with tired parents and other people who could use a good swear and a laugh.

A tip of the Father’s Day hat to all you dads out there who willing have  spent uncountable hours reading aloud to your children with a smile on your face. This one’s for you 🙂
