Party like a Book Star!

THIS is the book party I want to go to next year. The Minnesota Book Awards.

I blogged about these awards and the short list of nominees some weeks ago and this past Saturday, April 16, the big awards were announced at a biblio-blow out. Here’s a list of all the winners, but the big winner is the person who takes home the Readers’ Choice Award. This year it was given to News to Me: Adventures of an Accidental Journalist by Laurie Hertzel.newstome

Readers’ Choice is given by Minnesota readers who vote for their favorite book. This title sounds like a great addition to a book group list and I’ll bet many Minnesota book groups have already discussed News to Me. I’ve always been a fan of occupational memoirs and Laurie Hertzel‘s personal story of how she became an “accidental journalist” sounds fascinating, warm, and thought-provoking.
