Okay, so we all know what Miss Marple, Agatha Christie’s spinster amateur sleuth, looks like. She looks like this:

But certainly not this:
That’s Jennifer Garner, star of TV’s excellent Alias and several not terribly good movies. According to some reports (like this one at deadline.com), she may be starring in a “reboot” of the Marple stories, as a younger version of the character.
Let’s leave aside the potential for disaster inherent in tinkering with such a beloved character, and pretend, just for the sake of argument, that cutting Miss Marple’s age roughly in half is a good idea. Is Jennifer Garner the right person to play her?
