The Guardian’s Book Club

The Guardian online has a book club, facilitated by John Mullan. I look at the Guardian site frequently, but somehow didn’t stumble across the book club page until recently.

The Guardian’s Book Club has been going for some time, and because of that, there is a wealth of resources available on the titles they have discussed. Mullan writes about the book of month each week, where themes and characters and plot lines are discussed. There are also podcast interviews with the authors.

The featured book at the moment is Andrea Levy’s Small Island. You can listen to Levy’s podcast, where she talks about her inspiration and process.

Other books that the Guardian’s book club have discussed include: The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, Kalooki Nights by Howard Jacobson, Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters, and more.
