Award-winning Audiobooks at ALA Midwinter

The Odyssey Award, Notable Children’s Recordings, Amazing Audiobooks – ALA Midwinter has lots of audiobooks activity. Want to check out the nominated titles? You can see the entire ALSC  (for children up to age 14) 2011 Notable Children’s Recordings discussion list here, plus you are welcome to sit in on the committee meetings at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in Indigo 204 A/B at the following times: Friday, January 7 9:00 am to 5:30 pm; Saturday, January 8 1:30pm to 6:00pm; and Sunday, January 9 9:00am to 6:00pm. YALSA’s Amazing Audiobooks committee’s complete list of 2011 nominations is here, plus you can drop in to their meetings to learn about the top titles for youth ages 12-18 at the Marriott Hotel & Marina: Friday, January 7 3-:00pm to 5:15pm; Saturday, January 8 1:30pm to 3:30pm & 7:00 to 10:00pm, and  Sunday, January 9 8:00am to 12:00pm.

And you can share the excitement of the Youth Media Awards Press Conference, from 7:45-9:15AM on Monday, January 10th live via the web. The fourth annual Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production – co-sponsored by ALSC, YALSA, and Booklist Magazine – will be announced, but you’ll have to hold your breath until the announcement is made. As with the other ALA literary awards, the nominations and discussions are a closely guarded secret. I’ll be in the San Diego Convention Center Ballrooms A-D ready to add my cheers when the winner and  honor titles are announced. Hope you’ll be there, either virtually or in person, as well!
