Meeting Suzanne Collins

catching-fireCindy: Catching Fire, the sequel to Hunger Games, published today and so did a Borders video book club that Cindy and some Holland and Grand Haven teens were selected to particpate in with author Suzanne Collins. Cindy and four teens traveled to the east side of the state, met with Suzanne, were sent into “makeup,” and then filmed for a couple of hours. We were grateful to have this special opportunity. The teens and the adults in the room all had fun and one of the other teen participants blogged about the whole day in detail with photos at her website, The Compulsive Reader, back in July. To watch the Borders video, click on the screen shot below. We tried to avoid spoilers, but since the book is out now, you may want to read it first. We also tried our best to get some tidbit of information from Collins about book three, but she was not to be tricked into giving us clues even though she agreed the cliff hanger ending is evil.  And let us know how you would play the Hunger Games…would you hide, attack, make alliances? What would your strategy be?

What a great video!!! What a great experience for everyone.

As for me in the Hunger Games, I doubt I’d win, but I think I’d last awhile. I have a feeling that, like Katniss, I would have A LOT of anger directed at the Capitol, but that would also probably make me sloppy and eventually someone else would get to take me out 🙁 Ugh, what a morbid thought!

  2. Angela, I have no DOUBT that you would be plotting the revolution, just like Katniss.–Cindy
